About the Heat and a Suite Contest
Purchases were not required to enter the contest to win one of 10 new furnaces, including installation, plus a Chicago Blackhawks package. To qualify, homeowners had to own a single-family residence and needed to fill out the application by the end of December. Winners were chosen in January in time for everyone to make arrangements to attend the March Blackhawk game.
To win a Carrier furnace, the requirement was to own a residence within these counties.
- Illinois (Cook, DuPage, DeKalb, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will)
- Indiana (Elkhart, Lagrange, Lake, LaPorte, Marshall, Newton, Porter, and St. Joseph)
- Michigan (Berrien and Cass)
For a Bryant furnace:
- Illinois (Boone, Cook, DuPage, DeKalb, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendal, Lake, Lee, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Will, and Winnebago)
- Indiana (Lake and Porter)
The value of the new furnace and installation was a maximum of $6,700 and included a base furnace with an efficiency of 80% to 92%, depending on the brand and model. Installation was also included. Winners must own and not rent their residence and provide proof of ownership if they were chosen as the winner. The home had to be free of any issues that could complicate the installation.
The Chicago Blackhawk prize bundle included an invitation for the prize winner and a guest to attend TEC in their suite at the United Center for a Blackhawks home game. It included parking passes, food and beverages, and entry into the suite.
It’s worth spending a little time talking about the food offered in the TEC suite during the game. Winners and their friends enjoyed treats ending with decadent cakes and an ice cream bar with all the toppings you could imagine.
